Hillary was interviewed by Charlie Rose Monday night. Here’s a partial transcript via RealClearPolitics:
HILLARY CLINTON: I don’t think he really values democracy, Charlie.
CHARLIE ROSE: He doesn’t value democracy? Rose asked. “So he’s not a democrat, “little d?”
CLINTON: No, he’s not, he’s a top-down guy.
ROSE: He’s an authoritarian?
CLINTON: He has tendencies toward authoritarianism.
ROSE: So, he’s no different than Putin?
CLINTON: Well, hopefully he hasn’t ordered the killing of people and journalists and the like.
Her comments are getting even more fantastic. Which, honestly, I didn’t think was possible.
First, “I don’t think he really values democracy.” Note, this was said by the women who less than a week before suggested challenging the election results (commentary). Also noted was her lack of respect for democracy in Honduras.
But, I really like the last comment. She states that: “Well, hopefully he hasn’t ordered the killing of people and journalists and the like.”
Where was she during the previous administration? President Obama had a literal kill list (NYT) or the much more humane disposition matrix. Where was her outrage then? Oh, right, she was Secretary of State. I guess she was silent in 2013, too, when the Committee to Protect Journalists wrote that:
The administration’s war on leaks and other efforts to control information are the most aggressive I’ve seen since the Nixon administration, when I was one of the editors involved in The Washington Post’s investigation of Watergate. The 30 experienced Washington journalists at a variety of news organizations whom I interviewed for this report could not remember any precedent.
Also, unfortunately, Michael Hastings hasn’t released a response. I don’t normally like insinuation. But, at the very least we know how well Hillary’s campaign staff and he got along (Buzzfeed).
Maybe, just maybe, Hillary is upset that she can’t be the authoritarian.
