Non-denials and John McCain

Senator McCain has had a fractious relationship with President Trump. And, yesterday he was asked a very interesting question. This is in a slightly different vein than the normal non-denials. But, listen to his answer. Transcript here:

Reporter: Senator McCain, just a quick question: has your relationship with the President frayed to the point that you are not going to support anything that he comes to you and asks you for?

Senator McCain: Why would you say something that stupid? Why would you ask something that dumb? Huh? My job as a United States Senator, as a Senator from Arizona, which I was just reelected to. You mean that I am somehow going to behave in a way that I’m gonna block everything because of some personal disagreement. That’s a dumb question.

Notice that he never said “No.” He only attacked the reported and framed it as a stupid question. A question, which, thanks to Senator “I’m going to block everything” McCain we now know was quite prescient.
