Reaction Comparison
Today, a person was killed in an act of political violence. I despise and condemn such violence. But, I want to take a trip back in time. The date was June 14, 2017. Just a mere two short months ago to the day Rep. Scalisse was shot.
Here are some blue check marks (verified twitter users) today vs then:

Agreed. This would be the presidential thing to do. https://t.co/VIKnov7Gmv

Were there "many sides" in this act of terrorism Mr. President? https://t.co/ISI3uv4W1t

If our President is unable to condemn this act of terrorism, will someone on Trump team step up and do it? Now. https://t.co/WDEYWKEXc9

I was in govt. we did next to nothing. Instead we talked to Lavrov forever — Geneva I & II etc with zero results. https://t.co/VDUSG9zqXa

Even more shocking, my guess is that the NSC has not met once to discuss it. If they had, Sessions would have been there. https://t.co/2mm6xj9h6u

My heart is in Charlottesville today, and with everyone made to feel unsafe in their country.

But the incitement of hatred that got us here is as real and condemnable as the white supremacists in our streets.

2 sides take the field tomorrow, but we're all ultimately on one team.
My thoughts are with the members of Congress, staff & heroic police. https://t.co/YwrEBbeDok

I REPEAT: YOU OWN ALL OF THIS, GOP. EVERY LAST BIT OF IT.
— Peter Daou (@peterdaou) August 12, 2017
Remember, Donald Trump told us EXACTLY who he is and what he represents. But the national media were hellbent on destroying Hillary.

The problem with vague condemnations of hatred is they allow hate groups to interpret the condemnations as they see fit. https://t.co/j0YTHS73FU

Aside from the vile and ignorant bigotry, these losers are horrifically unpatriotic. https://t.co/N4AUP7SyLW

.@realDonaldTrump just condemned violence on "all sides" in Charlottesville — w/o targeting racist, Jew-baiting white nationalists.

I'll also express the hope that this awful incident occasions a recommitment to civil discourse rather than riding ideological hobby horses.

You’re free to draw your own conclusions. I think there’s a very telling dichotomy.
